Tesfaye is a food system change facilitator at glocolearning and a sustainable healthy diets postdoctoral researcher at Wageningen University & Research. He holds a PhD in Human Nutrition from WUR in 2022 and a master in Applied Human Nutrition from Hawassa University, Ethiopia in 2013. As part of his PhD research, Tesfaye led the Ethiopian Food-Based Dietary Guidelines and a Healthy Eating Index development and evaluation from 2018-2022.
Tesfaye is interested in working on how to make a healthy diet more easy, accessible, and affordable for all. He was a researcher at the Ethiopian Public Health Institute for 15 years (2007-2022), involved in different national nutrition research, nutrition program monitoring and impact evaluation in Ethiopia. Currently, Tesfaye is involved in the Global Diet Quality project to validate the DQQ indicators using 10 countries national food consumption datasets and developing scores to measure sustainability of diet using diet quality questionnaires.
As a member of the glocolearning team, Tesfaye is involved in facilitating food system transformative thinking, strategic planning and implementation research to achieve sustainable and healthy dietary goals.
